SELECTION EXAMINATION FOR TRAINING PROGRAMME LEADING TO THE POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN FAMILY MEDICINE BY DISTANCE EDUCATION (2010 – 2012)


         The PGDFM by Distance Education is a two-year, part time course in which the study materials and interactions will be conducted Online to supplement the Clinical rotations.
          The two year Course has been designed to meet the needs of doctors in the university, public and private sectors who are unable to access PGIM facilities to undergo training in the current full time one year face to face DFM training programme.

            The selection examination consisting of 40 Multiple Choice Questions to be answered over a duration of 2 hours, will be held on 19th August 2010.

             Applications are invited by me from medical officers possessing the following requirements to sit the above examination.
(a)    A medical degree registered with Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC)
*Foreign nationals who seek to apply to register for selection examinations should possess a medical degree registrable with the Sri Lanka Medical Council. The decision of the Board of Management will be final in all such applications.
(b)   Satisfactory completion of internship acceptable to the SLMC
(c)    Satisfactory completion of one year post-internship in medical/clinical practice in a university/private/state sector as at the date of closure of applications

                The prescribed fees for the examination shall be as follows:-
(a)    Application fee                   - Rs 500/=       (Non-refundable)
(b)   Registration fee                   - Rs 2300/=     (Non-refundable)
(c)    Selection examination fee    - Rs 8500/=
(Private candidates will be charged 50% more on each fee of the PGIM.)
 Special arrangements have been made to accommodate private sector candidates provided they have completed the requirement of post internship one year at a private sector medical institution or by serving with a general practitioner or at a private hospital recognized by the Board of Study of the PGIM and approved on case by case basis.
                                                                                                               
            Application forms can be downloaded from the PGIM website (www.cmb.ac.lk/pgim) or obtained from the Examinations Branch, Postgraduate Institute of Medicine. Requests for applications and other details by post should accompany a SASE 9”x4” in size and a money order of Rs. 500 (Application fee) drawn in favour of Postgraduate Institute of Medicine and payable at the Cinnamon Garden post office. The envelope should be marked “Application for Selection Examination in DFM by DE” at the top left hand corner.
            Completed applications should be forwarded to the Director, PGIM, 160, Norris Canal Road, Colombo 7 on or before 18th June 2010. Incomplete applications and late applications will not be considered under any circumstances.       
                                        
             Selected candidates will have to pay a course fee of Rs. 36,000/- per semester (i.e. 6 months).
