 One Year (Part time) - (Weekdays /Weekends) 

Applications will be entertained by the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) for the above programme from local or foreign applicants from the 5th May 2010.


The Programme  :
This programme will be an entry point for further studies and gate way to employment in the currently competitive environment. Recent graduates as well as professionals and other suitable applicants will have the opportunity to enhance their practical skills, including the use of English.

Admission Criteria for the PgD.BM :
(a).  Degree from a recognized university / institution in a field relevant to the subject matter/s of the Postgraduate Diploma.
or 
(b).  Any other Degree/ with one years’ work experience relevant to the subject matter/s of the Postgraduate Diploma.
or
(c). Professional qualification from a recognized professional body acceptable to the Faculty Board of PGS with one year work experience relevant for the   subject matter/s of the Postgraduate Diploma.
or
(d).   Any other Diploma from a recognized University, institution or an equivalent qualification so recognized by the FGS with three years’ work experience relevant to the subject matter of the Postgraduate Diploma.
or
(e).   Minimum of eight years sustained work experience, relevant to the subject matter of the diploma, at executive/ managerial level in recognized institutions or work places with strong recommendation on the capacity of the candidate to undertake the programme from the Head of the institution where the candidate works which is considered on a case by case basis by the FGS on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Study and the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Such candidates will also be subjected to an extra evaluation so determined by the selection board.
 And
(f).  Perform satisfactorily at an examination and/ or an interview to be conducted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
(g).  A good working knowledge of English.

UNIVERSITY OF MORATUWA
Departments of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Jointly conduct
M.Sc. / PG Diploma in Building Services Engineering (BSE) 2010 / 11

MSc/ PG Diploma in Building Services Engineering is approximately 24 months / 15 months multi disciplinary Degree / Diploma programme respectively jointly offered by Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Departments.
Each semester consists of 14 weeks and lectures will be held from 9.00 am - 6.00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays at the University of Moratuwa. The above postgraduate course is expected to commence in October 2010.

ELIGIBILITY

A degree of the Bachelor of Science of Engineering or any other engineering degree of at least four year duration with Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Speciality from a Recognized University and minimum of 1 year relevant experience in the field of Building Services Engineering. 

OR

Any other engineering degree of at least 3 year duration with Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Speciality from a Recognized University with minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the field of Building Services Engineering.

OR

Any other degree qualifications in a relevant field accepted by the Faculty and approved by the Senate with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the field of Building Services Engineering.

A Corporate Membership, Graduateship (as appropriate) or equivalent of a recognized Professional Institute in a relevant field acceptable to the Faculty and approved by the Senate and at least 3 years of relevant experience after having obtained the membership. The relevant experience in the field shall be judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate for all cases.

The University of Moratuwa invites applications from suitable candidates for admission to the postgraduate courses in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installations and Industrial Automations, leading to the Degree of Master of Science or Postgraduate Diploma. The courses are scheduled on a part-time basis commencing from October 2010 and will be offered in a modular form.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1.    Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa in a relevant field of specialization, or
2.    Any other engineering degree of at least four years duration in a relevant field of specialisation or,            3.     At least the Associate Membership of a recognised engineering professional institute in a relevant field AND  .     a minimum of one year of appropriate experience.

In addition, applicants having the following qualifications can apply for the MSc./PGDip. in Electrical Installations and Industrial Automations;

4.    Any other relevant science degree of at least four years duration from a recognized university, AND a minimum of one year of appropriate experience, or
 5.     Any other relevant science degree of at least three years duration from a recognized university, AND a minimum of two years of appropriate experience.

DURATION OF THE COURSE
All lectures, practical classes, assignments etc. will normally be conducted on weekends during the first year of the course. Those who successfully complete the examinations, assignments, projects etc. will be eligible for Postgraduate Diploma. A selected set of those who are eligible for Postgraduate Diploma may proceed to undertake an individual project of one-year duration on part-time basis. Those candidates who successfully complete the research project will be awarded the Degree of Master of Science.

Examination fees:         Rs. 500 per year (payable at registration).  
Tuition fees:                 Rs. 100,000 for the first year and Rs. 50,000 for the second year.

SELECTION EXAMINATION FOR TRAINING PROGRAMME LEADING TO THE POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN FAMILY MEDICINE BY DISTANCE EDUCATION (2010 – 2012)


         The PGDFM by Distance Education is a two-year, part time course in which the study materials and interactions will be conducted Online to supplement the Clinical rotations.
          The two year Course has been designed to meet the needs of doctors in the university, public and private sectors who are unable to access PGIM facilities to undergo training in the current full time one year face to face DFM training programme.

            The selection examination consisting of 40 Multiple Choice Questions to be answered over a duration of 2 hours, will be held on 19th August 2010.

             Applications are invited by me from medical officers possessing the following requirements to sit the above examination.
(a)    A medical degree registered with Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC)
*Foreign nationals who seek to apply to register for selection examinations should possess a medical degree registrable with the Sri Lanka Medical Council. The decision of the Board of Management will be final in all such applications.
(b)   Satisfactory completion of internship acceptable to the SLMC
(c)    Satisfactory completion of one year post-internship in medical/clinical practice in a university/private/state sector as at the date of closure of applications

                The prescribed fees for the examination shall be as follows:-

Thereafter, if a student has to get registered for any course, the tuition fee will be paid according to that academic year.
Apart from the tuition fee it is necessary to pay the following fees in each academic year:

Facilities fee – Rs. 900

Introduction ::
Department of Finance of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, offers the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance and the Master of Applied Finance.
Students are normally admitted first into the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance and will gain the Diploma after successfully completing all the courses listed in first year. Those students who complete the Diploma level courses will be eligible to do further nine courses listed in second year and to complete Master of Applied Finance degree. Candidates who are admitted to the course for the degree of MAppFin be eligible for the award of a Diploma in Applied Finance or a MAppFin but not both. Candidates who fail in MAppFin courses shall be eligible for the award of the Diploma only. Eventually, PGDAppFin will be awarded for those who complete the PGDAppFin.
