The Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo (FGS/UOC), is pleased to announce the commencement of the Master of Information Systems Management (MISM) 2019/2020 in March 2019. The two-year programme with research is of SLQF Level 10 and offers 60 Credits. It also provides the opportunity of exiting the course in one years with Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Management (PGDISM) upon the successful completion of 30 credits.
Target Audience
This course of study could be highly appropriate for persons who are in following positions and specifically those who are directly involved in Information Systems management.
• Information managers and officers
• Managers/Executives who bear responsibility in introducing new technologies to link IT with business strategy
• Information/IT managers who prepare the institutional activities to launch in line with e-governance strategies
• Executive positions in any type of organization who plan to subcontract the Information Service functions (outsourcing) to an agency
• Business/Brokering executives who handle information delivery in voluminous cross-sectional databases in networked environments
• Managers/Executives who handle and maintain information systems in government, business and non-government agencies
• Research Officers/Extension and Field officers in specialized subject fields such as Health, Agriculture, Banking, Industry and. Technology.
Admission Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree including 30 credits in the relevant subject area OR
• A qualification of SLQF level 6 or above in the relevant area of study OR
• A professional qualification equivalent to SLQF level 6 or above OR
• Completion of NVQ level 7 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 0-4 AND
• A good knowledge of English
