Bachelor of Education in Technology degree is meant for those who are in the teaching profession or those who are engaged in training and development in the industry having the following entry qualifications related to diciplines of Construction,Production,Food Technology,Electrical or Information Technology

Entry Qualifications :
1. NVQ Level 5 or NVQ Level 6 qualification in the relevant technology area
or
2. HNDE,NDT,NDES,NDET, NDICT in the relevant technology area which is acceptable to the academic council of the UNIVOTEC
or
3. Any other qualification which the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission has accepted as deemed to be equivalent to NVQ level 5 or 6 (the candidate has to submit written documentation issued by the TVEC as evidence with the application)
or
4. Diploma Offered by the National Institute of Education at Colleges of Education in relevant field Acceptable to the Academic Council of UNIVOTEC

Preference will be given to those applicants having post diploma industrial/teaching experience of at least 1 year duration
Degree programmes will be conducted on full-time basis from Monday to Friday.
Medium is English.

MASTER OF SCIENCE / POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This course is designed to present a stimulating programme of study allowing the successful graduate to gain extensive knowledge in Project Management, while adopting a broad generic approach.  The Course is conducted by a team of highly experienced senior lecturers.

Eligibility requirements:
A person is eligible to follow this course if they have any one of the following;
(a) The Honours degree of Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying, University of Moratuwa AND   a minimum of one year experience after obtaining the degree,
OR
(b) The Honours degree of Bachelor of Science in Facilities Management, University of Moratuwa AND a minimum of one year experience after obtaining the degree,
OR
(c) The Honours degree of Bachelor of Architecture, University of Moratuwa  AND a minimum of one year relevant experience after obtaining the degree,
OR
(d) The degree of Bachelor of Built Environment, University of Moratuwa  AND a minimum of two years relevant experience after obtaining the degree,
OR
(e)  The Honours degree of Bachelor of Science in Town and Country Planning, University of Moratuwa  AND a minimum of one year relevant experience after obtaining the
degree,
OR
(f)  The Honours degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering, University of Moratuwa AND a minimum of one year experience after obtaining the degree,
OR
(g) Any other four years honours degree from a recognized university with a minimum of  one year relevant experience after obtaining the degree. The degree shall be recognized by the faculty and approved by the senate.

(h) Any other three years degree from a recognized university with a minimum of two years relevant experience after obtaining the degree. The degree shall be recognized by the faculty and approved by the senate.

(i) A voting membership of a recognized professional institution in a relevant field AND a minimum of two years experience after obtaining membership. The acceptability of the professional qualification of the candidate, the recognition of the institution and the relevancy of the field for this purpose shall be judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate.

Course Content:

Course Fees:
The Course fee for the first year is Rs.  80,000/= and Rs. 40,000/= for the second year. The registration fee for the first year is Rs. 1,000/= and Rs. 500/= for the second year.  In addition a refundable deposit of Rs. 2,500/= (for library facilities) and an examination fee of Rs. 500/= is payable at the registration.

In recognizing the vital role played by Management of Technology and the demand for the professionals in Technology Management in the present industrialised society, the department offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management of Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration specialised in Management of Technology.

MBA in Management of Technology is a six semester (two-year) degree programme whilst PG Diploma can be completed within four semesters (approx. 15 months). The core curriculum of both programmes consist of common management and technology management modules. Wide variety of electives is offered so that the students can strengthen the knowledge in their special interest areas. In addition to the subject modules the students read for the MBA should carry out a research project in technology management or in a related area.

Each semester consist of 14 weeks of academic activities. Lectures are held on three weekdays from 5.30pm-8.30pm in Colombo and on Saturdays in the University of Moratuwa.

Teaching and learning model of postgraduate programmes at the department go beyond facts and theories of class room. Student empowerment is considered to be the foremost objective. Active and interactive teaching methods are commonly used. Special guest lectures, field visits and research seminars are used to further supplement topics that are covered in main subject areas.


Eligibility Requirements :
Potential candidates applying for the Master of Business Administration in Management of Technology or PG Diploma in Business Administration specialised in Management of Technology shall have the following eligibility requirements.

1. An Honours Bachelor's degree of the University of Moratuwa with a minimum of one (01) year period of appropriate experience;
OR
2. Any other four (04) year degree from a recognised University as may be approved by the Senate with a minimum of one (01) year period of appropriate experience;
OR
3. Any three (03) year degree from a recognised University  as may be approved by the Senate with a minimum of two (02) year period of appropriate experience;
OR
4. Any recognised category of membership of a recognised professional institute obtained through an academic route as may be approved by the Senate with a minimum of two (02) year period of appropriate experience as may be approved by the Senate
AND
All qualified applicants will have to take an aptitude test and face an interview.
